Where patients already receive care

Hawthorne focuses on the broad chronic conditions at the center of community health: cardiovascular and metabolic, neurological, dermatologic, respiratory, allergic and immunologic, gastrointestinal, and rheumatologic, along with infectious disease and vaccine studies.

These are the conditions patients manage through the pharmacies and community clinics where Hawthorne is embedded. Patients present where our teams practice, which supports natural identification, steady enrollment, and strong retention.

Eight areas

Each area is led by investigators with direct trial experience in that indication, supported by the equipment and clinical settings its protocols require.

Cardio-Metabolic

Cardiovascular and metabolic programs run through the same investigators and the same community sites, with echocardiography, EKG and centralized interpretation alongside the recurring-visit patterns longer metabolic studies depend on.

Infectious Disease & Vaccines

Investigators experienced across infectious disease indications. Vaccine studies run at every community site in the network, a natural extension of settings where patients already receive immunizations, and Hawthorne supports them alongside its core chronic disease focus.

Respiratory

Network investigators bring extensive respiratory and allergy trial backgrounds, and community settings support the recurring assessments common to respiratory protocols.

Gastroenterology

Investigators experienced in gastroenterology protocols, with community-based identification and referral channels that help surface GI patients who rarely appear at traditional research sites.

Dermatology

Board-certified dermatology investigators in the community settings patients already visit, supporting both common and complex dermatologic indications.

Neurology

Investigators with deep neurology trial experience, able to reach patients whose mobility or transportation constraints keep them away from traditional research sites.

Allergy & Immunology

Board-certified allergy and immunology investigators, fellowship-trained and experienced across allergic, eosinophilic and immune-mediated disease, in the community settings where these patients are already managed.

Rheumatology

Investigators with extensive rheumatology trial portfolios, experienced with the long-term follow-up patterns of patients managing chronic autoimmune conditions.

Trials and years are drawn from the investigators’ own records, the same source their profiles cite. The trial figure is each investigator’s whole career, as principal or sub-investigator and across every therapeutic area, not a count of their trials in this one. Where an area is supported by more investigators than have it documented on their CV, the trial figure names how many it came from. An investigator who supports more than one area is counted in each, so these figures compare depth between areas rather than adding to a network total. Network totals are on the investigator network page.
