Community Site Network
Access rooted in community.
Clinical research delivered in healthcare settings patients know and trust.

Where patients already are
Hawthorne Health operates a large network of community research sites embedded in independent pharmacies and community healthcare settings. Our sites are located where traditional research sites are not, creating access to patients who have traditionally been excluded from research. Patients participate where they already receive care, from providers they trust.
Why community access matters
Traditional trial sites are concentrated in metropolitan centers, far from where most patients live and led by providers unfamiliar to patients.
The result is persistent constraints that hinder enrollment.
- Geography. 67% of U.S. counties host no clinical trial recruitment (GoodRx Research, 2022).
- Trust. Patients trust a known provider 2.5 times more than a research site doctor (CISCRP Perceptions & Insights Study, 2025).
- Convenience. 70% of patients live more than two hours from a study site (Sanofi, BioPharma Dive, 2019).
Greater access improves enrollment performance, retention, protocol adherence, and timeline predictability.
Our network at a glance
A large and growing network, with expansion underway in additional states.
Network figures as of October 1, 2026.
Therapeutic focus
Cardio-Metabolic, Infectious Disease and Vaccines, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Neurology, Allergy and Immunology, and Rheumatology.
Therapeutic expertiseOne contract, one project manager
One clinical trial agreement provides access to all sites in the network, and one project manager coordinates execution across all locations.
Current and upcoming locations
Providers patients already trust

One model, consistently applied
All Hawthorne sites operate under the same centralized structure. Local teams focus on what they do best.
Centralized governance keeps quality, training, and reporting consistent across the network. Local teams keep patients engaged. Monitoring remains CRO-led and risk-based.
Central structure
- Standardized SOPs and one quality system
- Centralized training
- Centrally led feasibility and startup oversight
- Monitoring remains CRO-led and risk-based
Local teams
- Patient identification
- Community engagement
- Day-to-day coordination
- PI oversight and study delivery
What this means for your study
Access, faster startup, and one point of accountability.
- Access to patient populations traditionally excluded from research
- Faster study startup through a single contract and centrally managed activation
- Reduced operational fragmentation, with one point of accountability
- Consistent, protocol-compliant execution across geographies
