Recognition reflects a model that embeds research sites inside independent community pharmacies and supports patients with a nationwide at-home visit network, bringing trials within reach of the communities Hawthorne Health serves.
ROSEVILLE, Calif. — August 24, 2026 — Hawthorne Health today announced it has been named one of three finalists for the 2026 Global Excellence in Patient Centricity Award, presented by the Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) at the Global Site Solutions Summit. The award recognizes clinical research sites that incorporate patient insights, improve the participation experience, and maintain inclusive representation in trials.
Hawthorne Health was selected from the full pool of submissions by an SCRS panel of judges, alongside fellow finalists FutureMeds and CiviaHealth. The recipient will be announced October 17, 2026, at the Eagle Awards Gala during the Summit in Orlando, Florida.
Hawthorne Health operates a community-based clinical research site network with sites embedded inside independent community pharmacies, supported by a nationwide at-home visit network of GCP-trained nurses. Patients hear about a trial from the pharmacist who has filled their prescriptions for years, in a location they already visit, with evening and weekend appointments. When a protocol allows, patients can complete visits at the pharmacy, at home, or in a combination of both, under one structure and one standard of oversight.
“The judges were looking at whether patients stay enrolled, whether they report a good experience, and whether a model actually reaches communities research has skipped,” said Josh Rose, Chief Executive Officer of Hawthorne Health. “Those are operational outcomes, not intentions. Our sites and our nurses earn them visit by visit, and this recognition belongs to them.”
The submission cited outcomes from the network’s community sites. In a recent vaccine study conducted across six Hawthorne Health community sites, 98.3% of participants remained enrolled, with fewer than 2% discontinuing. Across the network’s at-home visits, 98% of patients reported being satisfied with their visit experience.
Site placement is deliberate. Hawthorne Health locates sites in communities with few or no local research options, including McAllen, Texas, a border community where 87% of the population is Hispanic and where the site is staffed by bilingual Spanish-speaking coordinators, pharmacists, and investigators; Gadsden, Alabama, where more than 30% of residents are African American and the nearest significant trial options are more than 60 miles away in Birmingham; and Staten Island, New York, where reaching a Manhattan research center can require a two-hour, multi-transfer commute.
